Eligibility Criteria:
- You must be a current ADP client practitioner in the Workforce Now with practitioner access.
- You must have a minimum of 6 months experience using Workforce Now and have gone through one annual enrollment cycle.
- Comprehensive Services clients with Comprehensive Benefits are NOT eligible for this certification. If you are a Comp Benefits client please reach out to your HRBP for more information.

Preparation Course and Study Resources
This 10-week learning plan will help you prepare for the ADP Workforce Now® Certified Benefits Specialist certification exam. The program is made up of self-study, eLearning, and 3 instructor-led sessions and optional office hours. The instructor-led class for 'Preparing for Benefits Specialist Certification for ADP Workforce Now' will be trained in-person prior to the start of Pro Summit on 5/13/2025.
The program requires you to spend approximately 1-2 hours/week for 8 weeks to complete the courses in your assigned learning path in myLearning@ADP. The plan also includes an optional self-study week.
Once you have completed all of your required coursework, including attending either the in-person, onsite version of the instructor led session or you may attend one of the virtual offerings (or both), you will complete the practice exam, and then the certification exam itself. You will have 30 days post-Pro Summit to complete your program and take your final exam. The certification exam is assigned to you the first business morning after passing the practice exam with a score of 85% or higher. The final exam is assigned between 10 AM EST and 1 PM EST and you will be notified when it is assigned.
Topics prepare participants to setup and maintain different types of benefits plans & aspects of employee open enrollment into benefit plans. Because this is a product certification, keep in mind that you may be required to complete training or see exam questions about features that your company doesn’t frequently or currently use
Exam Description and Topics
The ADP Certified Benefits Specialist in ADP Workforce Now exam is made up of approximately 40 multiple-choice questions and is based on concepts and experiences that should be familiar to a proficient Benefits practitioner with at least six months’ experience, including year-end, using ADP Workforce Now. The concepts and topic areas of the exam are derived from a training analysis study.
The approximate percentage of questions in each area is shown in the following list:
I. Setting Up the Benefits Feature (20%)
II. Setting Up and Maintaining Benefit Plans (25%)
III. Working with the Open Enrollment Center and the Benefits Dashboard (20%)
IV. Managing Employee Enrollments (25%)
V. Using the General ADP Workforce Now Features (as they relate to Benefits) (10%)
